Importance of Nutrition for Children to Keep Them Healthy and Joyful

In the modern life f busy parents, most parents give their children diets of convenience due to their busy schedules. However, poor eating habits and foods that do not meet your child’s daily nutritional requirements may affect their health and growth. The health problems that develop as a result of poor dieting may persist up to adulthood. It’s crucial, therefore, to put effort into ensuring that your child gets to eat food that will make them healthy and meets their nutrition minimum daily requirements.

1.   Give Probiotics for Healthy Gut

Probiotics introduce healthy bacteria into your child’s gut. The probiotics are suitable for your child’s health and good for the digestive system and the proper functioning of the immune system. Probiotics will also help your child recover from diarrhea and constipation. You may obtain probiotics from yogurt or supplements. However, note that not all probiotics are effective, especially when your child is taking antibiotics. To supplement your child’s nutritional needs, then Mother Nurtient has all the nutrition your child or infant would need for healthy growth and development.

2.   Calcium and Vitamin D for Healthy Bones

Calcium and vitamin D work together, and they will help your child develop solid and dense bones. They also help your child to maintain healthy and strong bones as they grow up. Calcium plays a significant role in building bones, while vitamin D enables your body to absorb calcium efficiently. Hence, taking calcium without vitamin D may lead to waste since your body may not absorb much of the calcium.

You can get calcium from foods such as milk, cheese, and yogurt. You can keep track of the amount of calcium you consume by checking the daily value of calcium on the label of products. You can also take supplements to add to your diet to attain your daily requirements; however, only use proven reliable products.

3.   Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K

Children require vitamins for good health, development, and growth. Different types of foods will provide your children with the necessary vitamins for the proper functioning of the body. Vitamins A, B, C, and D are essential vitamins your children need to consume to meet their daily requirements.

·       Vitamin A

Vitamin A is essential for vision, skin health, growth and development, and proper immune function.

·       Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps your child boost immunity and also helps in the absorption of iron from food. Vitamins also help keep teeth, bones, and gums healthy. You can feed your child raw fruits and vegetables as sources of vitamin C.

·       Vitamin E

Vitamin E is necessary for a robust immune system and is also vital for healthy skin and eyes. Important sources of vitamin E for your child are canola oil, margarine, sunflower oil, seeds, and nuts.

·       Vitamin K

Your child can obtain vitamin K from spinach, broccoli, eggs, and beans. Vitamin K controls bleeding in case of injury since it helps in the blood clot.

4.   Omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for your child’s brain health, quality sleep, and reducing asthma symptoms. Omega-3 fatty acids are also beneficial for your child’s general health. Good sources of omega-3 fatty acids are salmon, chia seeds, soybean oil, and nuts.

5.   Exercises and Hydration

Your child needs to be active physically and mentally. For physical exercises, you can have your child walk around often or give them some tasks depending on age to keep them engaged. Mental activities may involve toys that need creativity to use or any other age-appropriate lessons. Always remember to give your child enough water and fluids to keep them hydrated. Children tend to be more active, and since their surface area to volume ratio is high, they tend to lose water quickly and, hence, are likely to dehydrate more easily. It’s therefore essential to keep track of your child’s intake of water and other fluids.

Conclusion

You need to take proper care of your child’s health to prevent health complications. A healthy child will keep their parents happy and hopeful. It’s therefore of essence to take time and plan your child’s nutritional requirements and know how to fulfill them. Knowledge is power; with some knowledge, you will meet your child’s health needs more efficiently. Supplements will also come in handy to break the monotony of some foods your child may not like. Consulting with a health professional is also crucial if your child has some health issues.
